SAUSALITO, Calif., July 28, 2008 - The Sausalito Art Festival, the nation's most prestigious outdoor art festival, will present a spectacular black-tie Gala under the stars on Friday, Aug. 29 at 6 p.m., set on the picturesque waterfront backdrop of Richardson Bay at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - Bay Model Visitor Center and Marinship Park.

Acclaimed as the Bay Area's "art party of the season," this year's affair boasts a Sausalito Dreamin' theme, and promises to deliver a very hip and colorful evening of world acclaimed art paired with the creative cuisine of celebrated Dan McCall & Associates, hosted spirits and fine wines. Guests will get into a Latin Salsa mood with live entertainment during cocktails and then dance the night away at 9 p.m. to the surfing safari beach party sounds of renowned California band, Papa Doo Run Run.

"The Sausalito Dreamin' Gala is a fantastic way to launch the 56th annual Sausalito Art Festival," commented Gala Chairman Paul Anderson. "This is the best VIP party in the Bay Area, showcasing the talents of so many wonderful artists while enjoying great food and drink. I assure you a night of fantastic memories all done in support of the Sausalito Art Festival Foundation, a non-profit organization which promotes appreciation of the arts in Sausalito."

More than a thousand sophisticated patrons attend the Sausalito Art Festival Gala, strolling the Festival's beautiful tented grounds meeting the 270-juried artists and previewing the artwork prior to public sale. While most patrons amble throughout the evening enjoying a bounty of gourmet hors d'oeuvres, some opt for the additional sit-down VIP dinner created inside a magnificent waterside tent. McCall Chef Lucas Schoemaker has created a sensational menu ranging from savory Asian-inspired hors d'oeuvres, and iced prawns to the classic buffet of sirloin of beef, roasted pork tenderloin and warm pasta, in addition to platters of heirloom tomatoes, late summer melons and a unique Sundae Hut to tempt the sweet tooth.

Gala tickets are $175 for strolling buffet and $275 for buffet and sit-down dinner. To order Gala tickets, please phone 415 332 3555 or visit www.SausalitoArtFestival.org.
